The roller as been ordered for Friday 9th march.
dependant on the weather the field will be rolled Friday, therefore no flying will be allowed on that day
If the weather is inclement that day Saturday or Sunday will be used

In your dream’s
Roller goes back Monday- 26/02/2018 at 22:20 #3039Martin LynnKeymaster
John,
I should be okay to help on the Friday morning, but I have somewhere to go in the afternoon.
Afraid we only get the roller for 3 days (we get it at a good price on these days), so the field will have to be done on the Friday or over the weekend subject to the weather.
Martin.

To avoid closing the field down for the day does anyone want to roll the field overnight as a option ? Am sure there is a member out there would do this for the benefit of other weekend flyers.

Unfortunately, to hire the roller (including bringing it on a low loader etc.) from Monday to Friday would cost us an absolute fortune, not just a few quid more than at the weekend. We have been very lucky that the hire company lends us it when it isn’t required for its primary purpose i.e. rolling roads – hence the really good price.

I have put the roller as an agenda item, for discussion at the next club meeting.
The roller is booked for Friday 9th March and that is not going to change this year. This arrangement has been in place for many years without any problems. Normally most of the work is done on the Friday but sometimes if the weather is bad things can run over.

Help Required Friday 9th March
Weather permitting
Agenda
Start rolling field
Start filling in potholes ( trailer from Daves will be full of scalpins just to shovel out in to holes ) Then roll in.
Using Daves tractor fill bucket with stones and lay in our carpark for rolling prior to a coat of scalpins where required.
With tractor collect and burn any debris coming down road to site
Hope to procure 20 ton of scalpins price to be split between club and Dave
If possible cut down trees at side of river and drag to bonfire area ( Only trees that are in the flight path non that flyers keep landing in )
Lot to do, don’t think we need anybody till about 11 am but that’s up to you, but bringing a shovel would be handy.
Refreshments will be provided by the Tea Bitch ( steve ).

Due to weather conditions and the forecast the roller has been cancelled and rebooked for next Friday the 16th

The weather forecast for the next few days including Friday 16th March is for more rain. The field and car park area are already quite wet. We have decided to postpone the roller hire until Friday 23rd March, in the hope of some better weather. We will have to do the field on this day, irrespective of the weather.

Thank you to everyone who helped down at the field today.
We got most of the field rolled and the potholes on the approach road and car park area filled and levelled, before the roller broke down and we could not finish it off.
There are a couple of changes down at the field.
We have moved the toilet to the side of the club cabin. Please use it rather than going elsewhere.
We have put some flags down in front of the cabin where the chairs and other equipment are stored. This will be referred to as the club patio.
