DDMAC Member Updates July 2019

Scalpings Saturday 13th July 2019
The club chairman John Evans is planning to move the scalping’s from the car park area and spread them in front of the cabins on Saturday 13th July 2019 (10.00am onwards). If you can lend a hand, please let John know.

We have one more meeting down at the flying field on Thursday 8th August and then return to Batley RAFA club for the September meeting.

BMFA Northern Area Fly In
The BMFA Northern area committee are organising a one-day Fly-In on Sunday 14th July 2019, at the PANDAS flying site. DDMAC members are welcome at the event (link below).

Club Cabin Security
Please make sure if you have opened the club cabins, that when you leave, any members left at the field have a key to lock up (not all members have keys). Please check that all the cabins (the new larger cabin has 2 locks on it) and toilet are locked and secured.

Air Cadet DDMAC Field Visit
After a recent talk, aircraft demonstration and simulator session given to the 868 Mirfield Air Cadet Squadron by Andy Symons (BMFA Club Support Officer), Paul Tallet (BMFA  Promotions Coordinator), Tim Haigh (HDMAC & BMFA Northern Area Chairman) and DDMAC member Martin Lynn,  we have invited members of the cadet unit, to attend the DDMAC flying field, to have a try at actual flying on the club trainers using the buddy system. We will need help to run these events. Please let Martin Lynn know if you can help (dates below).

Tuesday 13th August 2019 (1830 to 2100)
Tuesday 10th September (1830 to 2100)

Club Barbecue Sunday 28th July 2019
Phil Heaton is proposing to hold a club barbecue on the afternoon of Sunday 28th July, down at the flying field. To assist with the catering arrangements, please let Phil know if you are coming along.

DDMAC Warbird Fly-In Saturday 21st September 2019
At the start of the year, members decided we would hold a ‘Warbird Fly-In’ in September (Saturday 21st). I am unlikely to be available on this date. We need someone to run and organise the event if it is to go ahead. Please let me know if you are prepared to organise the event, otherwise it will have to be cancelled.

Club Bonfire 2019
We are still planning to hold a club bonfire this year on Saturday 9th November. This is subject to our regular wood supplier being available to supply the wood and enough club volunteers to assist to set up and run the event.

If we cannot get the wood and people to help, we may have to cancel the event this year or just hold a smaller informal event.

Martin Lynn,
DDMAC Membership Secretary.
