BMFA Email Text ‘Maintaining Club flying Sites’

We have received a number of enquiries regarding whether it is permitted to visit the flying field to mow the strip and carry out other maintenance?

Unfortunately the simple answer to this is “No!”

The Government’s instructions are very clear on this matter, you should only leave the house for one of four reasons:

  • shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible.
  • one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle – alone or with members of your household.
  • any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
  • travelling to and from work, but only where you absolutely cannot work from home.

As you maybe aware Police forces are now conducting stop and checks and we know that people who have used mowing at their club/sports club as an excuse to be out, have been turned back. The Police deem this as non urgent and unacceptable.

We do understand the hard work that it has taken to get your runway into good condition and the frustration you are feeling. It’s important to remain positive through these difficult times and this does present clubs with an ideal opportunity for a member’s and family get-together when the restrictions are lifted. Why not fire up the BBQ, catch up with your flying friends and get to work on The Big Fly-Mow project

See what we did there? We like that 😉

If everyone works together, your runway will look better than ever before and in next to no time!

Stay Safe – Stay At Home – Save A Life.

Kind regards
